“The gap between the current reality of the dance field and a reality where Black Disabled dance artists can make work on our terms is so vast that often, in order to make space for artists like me, I have to put on the hats of educator, consultant, mediator, and coordinator.

And while I find great importance in this advocacy work—which informs my own creative practice—this rebirth of Embraced Body recenters our own artistry.”
